Death / Smile

A fresh live project I am beginning - without any other give aways really either.

Death - 'the permanent termination of the biological functions that sustain a living organism'.
Smile - 'facial expression formed by flexing the muscles near both ends of the mouth.'

Conjuration Film

From Clare Strand, previously posted, part of the Conjurations Series

Conjurations

Clare Strand's photographic series 'Conjurations' presents magicians' well-known tricks in a forensic light- with women performing alarming illusions, whether suspended in mid-air, or sawn in half.

Mouse Stilts

Chrissie Macdonald from Peepshow Collective was asked to take part in 'Object Abuse', a group exhibition curated by the KK Outlet as part of the London Design Festival. A group of leading artists, designers and stylists were challenged to take an everyday object, remould, rebuild and repurpose it to create an entirely new item using as little additional materials as possible. Chrissie transformed a pair of chopsticks into mouse stilts.
I found this just brilliant.

Reviews on Impossible Project?

I used to love using my polaroid, but now with no film left, I am in two minds whether to splash out on film from the Impossible Project. The Silver Shade looks great on some of the examples they give on their website, but when reading there instructions on how to use the film it seems like it could be a laborious process trying to get a decent photo. Is it worth the £2.00 a photo? I'm off to Oktoberfest next week so could be a nice camera to take with me?

ACE + IMPOSSIBLE collaboration

'Ace reinvents the urban hotel for the people that make cities interesting. Sharing this common desire to continue, and yet reinvent, the shared experiences we all hold dear, we are excited to present this collaboration.
A vintage Polaroid camera is in your hotel room and a film pack in your mini-bar. Perhaps during your previous travels, you might have wished for such a dream team. Dream no more! Now guests at Ace Hotel New York will find a pack of Impossible x Ace Hotel PX 600 Silver Shade film in the mini-bar as well as a refurbished Polaroid camera.
Stay in bed? Discover the area? Get in a New York State of Mind? Goof around with your travel companion? Relax? Get inspired? Order food? Friends of Ace Hotel and The Impossible Project including Adam Goldberg, Andie Acosta, Anne Bowerman, Araks Yeramyan, Chloe Aftel, Dave Ortiz, Devon Turnbull, Elijah Wood, Jeremy Kost, Nicole Held, Michael Nevin, Pat Sansone and Steve Olson have already done that - and many other things. Their Impossible photographs are now on view in the gallery show "24 hours at Ace". '

A condensed primer for students and graduates-to-be.

Unbelievably, in three weeks time I will be starting my final year of my degree. It has flown by. Here's to getting older....wiser?

The Little Black Gallery Presents....

Famous for his documentation style fashion photography, Terry O'Neill photographed the likes of David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Ursella Andress, Brigitte Bardon, Twiggy, Dudley Moore and Peter Cook. The exhibition is on now and worth a visit to see the size of the Bardon Print. If I had £10,000 it would look lovely on the studio wall.

The Museum Of Everything 4

This year The Musuem of Everything moves from their lovely little studio in Primrose Hill to Selfridges Gallery and their shop windows. Today I went to check out what they could of possibly done with such a great collaboration. To be honest, I was disappointed compared with all the other Everything Exhibitions and Selfridges' well-known shop displays.
Some of the work was great, and there was a great selection of abstract portraits and illustrations, but the work was not as good as the giant circus prints, merry-go-rounds and sculptures of previous years.
Nevertheless, worth a visit if you've never been to one of The Museum of Everything's and sign up for further exhibitions!

Moroccan Set

In July, I travelled around the beautiful country of Morocco, rich in culture and with an incredible mix of natural beauty with mountains, desert, coasts and forests. I would recommend the trip to anyone with a passion for experience, the route I took allowed for exploration of a lot of the country but I will definitely be returning to cover thoses little secret I found on the way. If you are planning to go to Morocco, get in contact and I can tell you some great riads, hostels, place of interest, friends and routes I found useful during my stay.... Lonely Planet is always a great start though.

Agnes Monrgomery

My tummy feels funny when i come across new collagist artist. Agnes Montgomery definitely has that effect on me, and what makes her work even better is that it is entirely hand done. I respect the time, troubles and hours of cutting and sticking she does with her work, which is beautiful. She has done several album covers for 'Panda Bear' and her work seems to crop up in some great magazines and publications too.

Spoons - A publication

Fun in Acapulco

She is fluent in English, French, Italian, German and Swiss German. A sex symbol of the 60s. Dated James Dean. Work alongside Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presely and David Niven. Her famous white bikini sold for £35,000. Definitely not as beautiful as she was in the sixities but Ursula Andress did look amazing.

Chips or Tea? Tea or Chips?

These are two of my favourite things, I indulge on both far too much!
When I received my email update from Juxtapoz there was a pleasant post about sculpture artist Marcus Fiedler who has created realistic wax sculptures of everyday objects from a teabag, to a bass guitar and an amp. I love the french fries and the tea bag...no easy task im sure.

Wynonie - Suggestive - Harris

"Mr. Blues," as he was not-so-humbly known, joyously related risque tales of sex, booze, and endless parties in his trademark raspy voice over some of the jumpingest horn-powered combos of the postwar era. Unfortunately I couldn't find a clip of my favourite song, 'I Like My Baby's Pudding', but this is a treat for you too.

Winnie Truong

Her works are rather limited but Winnie definitely creates some amazing pencils drawings of just hair. The titles of her work are another clever addition.
A Quiet Place to Rest
Old Plot New Twists
Bear Arms
Ornament & Correction
